Through this course module teachers will acquire a good conceptual
understanding of the interworkings and interactions of computer hardware
and software. More specifically, this module will cover the following
topics in an interactive, highly graphical setting:
- Terminology and history of computer hardware and software.
- Understanding local and global internets.
- Information transfer and storage.
- Communication tools and protocols.
Although this module is designed to be useful for all teachers, it does
discuss a number of topics that are of special interest to mathematics
teachers. Credit: 1/4 grad. unit (= 1 sem. hr.) or 3 CEUs.
