Required Materials
In addition to the general requirements for participating in the Math Teacher Link Course Module Program, this module also has the following requirements:
-
Mathematica
To complete this program, you must have Mathematica installed on the computer that you will use to complete the coursework. We recommend that new students use Mathematica 8.0, but legacy support can be provided for earlier versions.
More information on Mathematica, including some sample applications, called demos, may be found on the Wolfram webpage at http://wolfram.com . The requirements for running the Mathematica software may also be found on that site.
Students who enroll in a Math Teacher Link course will receive a UIUC login called a NetID. This login will allow access to the University of Illinois WebStore where a time limited copy of Mathematica may be purchased at a substantial discount.
-
Courseware
Each of our Mathematica-based courses has a series of files that make up the course's electronic textbook.
Graduate credit students using Mathematica Versions 8.0 will be provided a link where they may download the files for this course. Students using older versions of Mathematica should contact their mentor via email about the availability of legacy courseware.
- Recommended, Courseware CD
All of the Calculus& Mathematica lessons for the first two semesters of calculus are available on a single CD. While you are a student they can be purchased downloaded from the University of Illinois WebStore. It is not essential to have all of these lessons to do this module because the lessons that you will be required to review are included in the module download. However, we feel that these additional lessons would certainly help you to get a more complete view the total content an pedeagogy of the C&M course.
If you are not a University of Illinois student, the CourseWare CD, Calculus&Mathematica by Bill Davis, Horacio Porta and Jerry Uhl, may be purchased from the Math Everywhere website at http://www.matheverywhere.com
Continuing education students should purchase the lessons from: https://www.makershed.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MMUI220 .
